Hans Christian Anderson was known to have an imagination which he used to create his writing/books. His writings were translated into more than 150 languages. They were also transformed into animated movies, plays, ballets, etc. Some books that were written by Han Christian Anderson were "The Ugly Duckling", "The Little Mermaid" and "Thumbelina". Having a daughter who is four years old, I am very familiar with those books. I really enjoy the book about the ugly duckling, because it really gives us a good idea about what happens to some people who do get mistreated. The ugly duckling was treated badly (both physically and mentally), but the little duckling did not give up. He wandered off and runs into many trials and tribulations, but eventually turns into this beautiful swan.

Rose Impey wrote for children of all ages. She started writing, because she loved telling stories in school. She wrote many books that showed her imagination and creativity. She wrote books like "Magical Princess Stories", "Knock Knock Who's There", "Pirate Patch and the message in the bottle" and Wanda Witch and the Wobbly Fang". She writes mostly about girl situations, because first of all she is a girl and in her life she is surrounded by many girls. Her book "Wanda Witch and the Wobbly Fang" is a very cute book. I just recently read it to my four year old daughter and she loved it. She wanted me to read it over and over.
Miss Nelson is missing by James Marshall is another good book that the kids would enjoy. I know I enjoyed it when I was young. It will also show them why they should not mistreat their teacher and maybe they can learn from this experience.

The website that helped me to find authors like Hans Christian Anderson, Joanna Cole, and Rose Impey was Children's Literature Independent Information and Reviews and Fantastic Fiction. It listed many authors and many books that helped with the information I needed. With all the options it lists, I can work with these books to help the children learn and to help them enjoy reading.
